Labor Day!

This was a great weekend! That extra day allows me to feel so much more on top of things, and still leaves time for lots of fun! Friday night I had a quick happy hour with friends, a haircut, and dinner with N.

Saturday I spent time with the fam, had a minor key debacle that involved going through a restaurant's trash (eww) before finding my keys, and a night of college football watching at home.

Sunday we went to church, out to a quick lunch, Costco, and then I went to school to work. My mom joined me and we worked for six hours! That's right, twelve man hours. I feel caught up on lots of things, and ready to tackle the work week. Mom stayed for dinner, then Nick and I ventured to Dallas to The Doublewide for a show by our favorite band, 1100 Springs.

We got there a few minutes after it started and it was jam packed! It was a great show as always, and we had a fantastic time. The event was billed as a "parking lot pool party". They had a food truck and several blow up pools. As you can tell, no one hopped in the pools while we were there. I think that if it wasn't for the cooler weather they might've had some takers!

On Monday we got caught up on things around the house! We also were able to enjoy the cooler temps on a walk with our two favorite puppies!

Summertime Wreath

Today I am linking up to the Nester's wreath party.

Every year I run into the same seasonal decorating dilemma - summer! I have fall decor I like for inside the house, plus who doesn't love fresh mums and pumpkins! Of course I love to decorate for Christmas. The past few years I have collected/made a few Valentine's decorations, which helps with the post Christmas winter slump I sometimes experience. Spring is my favorite season, and I love to begin to transition the house at the first sign that sunshine and warmth is going to stick around! It's when spring slips into summer (which seems to happen quite quickly in Texas) that I feel a little lost. I am not an overly themey person. I just like little touches here and there that reflect the season.

One thing that I try to switch out frequently is my front door wreath. After spring passed this year my door just sat empty for months. Finally, I spotted the cutest wreath on pinterest! I don't remember where the original link came from though. They just used tissue paper and a pizza box! One night I was working on some other pinterest projects, and I decided that I could whip this one up with things I had on hand. All I did was create varying sizes of tissue paper poms (following Martha Stewart's tutorial). I glued them all over my square "wreath form" as you can see from the back, I reinforced it using a dowel rod (which I adhered with a classy leopard print tape job moments before we had company).

I always hang wreaths with ribbon of some sort stapled or tacked to the top of the front door - no wreath holder to mess with!

I've enjoyed the little summery touch it has added to our home!
